David Bonillas finished third in A during the 1976 Grand American Doubles. The following year he was AA champ in a preliminary singles contest, and he earned Brother-Brother recognition with Dan in the Class 16s.

In ATA Western Zone competition, Dave won the zone A trophy in the 2001 class doubles.

His state shoot awards include AAA honors in the 2001 class singles with 200 and the same prize in the 2003 high-over-all.

Bonillas collected numerous prizes at the Golden West Grand. He won the 1973 Singles Championship with the lone 200 (his first 100 as well as 200 straight) and secured top honors that year. He repeated as singles victor three years later with another 200.

Bonillas began registering in 1972, and since then he has fired at 47,950 singles, 51,275 handicap and 30,550 doubles targets.

David Bonillas was inducted in to the California Trapshooting Hall of Fame in 2009.
